Primary Use:  I could use this as a classroom teaching resource and it could also be used as a student resource.

Description of the educational value of the site:  This site is valuable in that it teaches how to solve algebraic problems using step-by-step directions.  The site has the problems listed by topics so that the student can do practical algebraic lessons. This site also allows the student to link to other practice sites that might be helpful.  Another asset to this site is the homework guidelines.  This section teaches the standards for a mathematics assignment.  This is wonderful and I probably use this again in my classes.  Another sections allows for the student to take a study skills survey.

SD Grade Level Standard(s) that the site addresses:  Grades 9-12 Algebra Standards #3,5,6,7,10,11,13,14,15

Primary Use:  I could use this as a classroom teaching resource and it could also be used as a student resource.

Description of the educational value of the site:  This site is valuable in that it teaches how to solve algebraic problems using step-by-step directions.  It also shows how to solve word distance problems.  This site has many examples and uses Quick Math to allow the student to solve the equations and problems.  The site also allows the student to graph equation using a computer calculator

Strengths and/or weaknesses in relation to the Web Portal criteria:

This site was a little harder to use and navigate through.  Important messages were highlighted with the appropriate graphics and serve the intended purpose for the viewer.  It also appeared that there were too many graphics and items were being sold so that this site could stay in business. The site allowed for some interaction and had e-mail available over a secure line. This site was mot BOBBY Approved.  Quizzes or assessments were not provided only problems.  There were no assessments available.

Appropriate Grades(s) and Content Areas(s):  This site is appropriate for computer programming classes.  The appropriate age level would be 11th grade – 12th grade.

SD Grade Level Standard(s) that the site addresses:  At this time there are no standards for programming classes.

Description of the educational value of the site:  This site is valuable because it teaches how to create MFC files for Visual C++.  It also extends basic knowledge into more complex functions.  It offers a tool kit that has over 100 MFC classes.  The student can use these to enhance the programs that we are doing in class.

Strengths and/or weaknesses in relation to the Web Portal criteria:

This site was not as easy to use and navigate through as some others that I have seen.  Important items or menus were highlighted and set off to the left side with a graphics bullet which allows the user to find where they want to go. The site allowed for plenty of interaction.  This included a site for question & answer, contact support and discussion form.  It also had e-mail available over a secure line. This site was not BOBBY Approved.  The only assessment is this type of procedure is if the program runs.

SD Grade Level Standard(s) that the site addresses:  Grades 9-12 Algebra Standards #2,3,5,6,7,10

Primary Use:  I could use this as a classroom teaching resource and it could also be used as a student resource.

Description of the educational value of the site:  This site is valuable in that it allows students to practice algebraic and geometric skills while playing games. This site allows the student to use puzzles, mazes, and grids plus practice numerical numbers.  This site makes the students use the math skills that they have developed plus add more skills to their bag.

Strengths and/or weaknesses in relation to the Web Portal criteria:

This site was fairly easy to use and navigate through.  The only draw back is that the user needs to read the directions of the game in order to play and be successful. All items were placed in box like grids that the user could choose from.  There was an area for the user to search and an area for the user to get a calculator or even get the currency exchange rates.  The site has a link to a “What’s new “ area and gives an e-mail address for those who would like to contact them. The site allowed for plenty of interaction. This site was mot BOBBY Approved.  Assessment was in the form of did you win.
